I'm trying to find the name of 2 books, the first is a historical romance set in America, I can't remember if it is before or after the revolutionary war Dancer, Daughter, Traitor, Spy. The book was in a three novel anthology owned by my mother so probably late 1970s-early 1980s. The guy is a war hero with a badly scarred face but lots of money. The heroine is a sweet young thing with a raving beauty cousin who has her sights set on the rich war hero. Circumstance arises where the heroine and the hero get in a carriage wreck and end up having to spend the night in a barn together The Ring and the Crown (repackage). The heroine may even hit him or shoot him in her frenzy to get back to London and save her husband. Of course, at the end they live happily ever after. Please let me know if this rings any bells. Not knowing is completely driving me mad! Thank you, ktleyed - that's completely right Letters from the Coffin-Trenches.

I’m new to this and actually posted in the wrong place first. The first I do believe is a Harlequin or Silhouette. It’s an historical romance based in London, maybe in the Regency period. The heroine arrives from the country to net a husband. She has her old nanny and a younger sister who is very beautiful, but has intellectual disabilities The Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices). I remember the ending scen more clearly, heroine comes to his(?) boat with a gun, hero is willing to die at her hand, hero ends up in the water (think at gunpoint, not sure), book ends with the heroine throwing away the gun and joing him in the water. I believe the whole i-only-killed-your-father-because he-killed my-dad-but-i-get-why-you-want-to shoot-me thing was only a secondary plotline, any suggestions will be greatly appreaciated, TIA Legacy. She was asked to deliver a message to her husband, a Lord I think In the Shadow of the Lamp. Of course her friend is afraid he might punish her and wants her husband to stop the forced departure. Hey, I am so excited to have found this group - I have been obsessing about finding this book and i hope someone can help me. They are found the next morning and he is forced to marry her for compromising her innocence. I think her father was either the town sheriff or minister. She's an ugly duckling with a pretty sister. The man agrees to marry her because he needs someone to cook, clean and help with the younger boys The Perfect Imposter. Someone kidnaps her and throws her off the side of a boat. I am sure that the book is NOT Another Woman by Margot Dalton even though they are very similar. A wealthy (and apparently not very nice) rancher promises his step daughter that he will leave her his ranch if she stays and helps him run the place. However, when he dies she finds out he has 3 sons from his first wife that he has not since the divorce and he has left 1/4 of the ranch to each of the sons in addition to a 1/4 for her The Big Burn.
